| India has expertise not only in BPO or ITES but now one more sector that is making India a hot destination for outsourcing and that is KPO i.e. Knowledge Process Outsourcing. The super success of Indian BPO has resulted in the birth of KPO. KPO has now taken the lead in the outsourcing business. Knowledge Process Outsourcing refers to the outsourcing of activities where domain knowledge or expertise is required, for example accounting, taxation, legal services, insurance, HR services, and pharma services. In simple words, KPO is an upward shift of BPO in value chain. According to an estimate there will be a demand of more than 250000 professionals by the year 2010. In India a talent tool with such specialized knowledge is readily available. There is also lot of importance given to mathematics and science resulting in large number of science and engineering graduates. These graduates would fuel the growth of KPO in India. After becoming expert in BPO, India is now looking forward to pharmaceutical and legal services sector as there is lot of opportunity and growth in these sectors. In the year 2002, NASSCOM conducted a survey. This exhibits the excellent performance of an Indian financial outsourcing firm. NASSCOM commented, “An Indian banking & financial outsourcing service sector, performs better than US & UK based BPO centers in various categories.” Knowledge Process Outsourcing is now becoming successful in India due to the talented workforce, favorable government policies, operational cost savings, and improved infrastructure. |
